Dear colleagues, dear friends,
It is our great pleasure to invite you to join us in beautiful Dubrovnik for the Regional Meeting of the International Society of Dermatology. With Symposium theme “Many Faces of Dermatology – Clinical, Surgical and Aesthetical” we would like to present big diversity and beauty of our specialty. We will do our best to provide a scientific program that will cover the latest development in clinical, surgical and aesthetic dermatology. Current state-of-the-art knowledge will be presented by internationally recognized speakers through lectures and presentations that will include a wide range of topics. We would also like to encourage our residents and young specialists (“future of dermatology”) to present their work along with the opportunity to expand their knowledge.
Aside from the excellent scientific program, you will be able to enjoy the beauty of Dubrovnik, world known pearl of Adriatic coast, situated in the southern part of Croatia. With its historical, architectural and cultural heritage, dating from the 6th century, Dubrovnik was added to the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1979. We are going to meet in the early February 2017, exactly in the period of Festivity of Saint Blaise, the patron saint of Dubrovnik. The festivity has been organized since year 972 on February 3rd and it was also addedto UNESCO’s list of intangible cultural heritage of humanity in 2009. On the saint’s day, when Europe is usually swept by snow, Dubrovnik is full of mimosa, daffodilsand springtime sun. In the morning of this festive day the churchgoers arrive from distant Dubrovnik areas, dressed in national costumes. They carry their church emblems and salute the patron in front of the Church of St. Blaise by twirling the banners. After the holy mass, the procession of celebrants - including priests, nuns, banner-bearers, musicians and residents, wends its way from the church through the heart of the Old City and along the main street of Dubrovnik, the famous Stradun. The celebration of St. Blaiseis integrated into the life and culture of Dubrovnik as the most festive and the most sublime day in its long history.
We are looking forward to welcoming you in 2017 to the Regional Meeting of the International Society of Dermatology in Dubrovnik!
With warm regards,
Zrinka Bukvić Mokos
